 It's fun, it's boring, it's super hot, it's cheap, it's expensive.

It's like a complete package, not so developed as a developed country nor a third world country. So, overall it is okay. Lessons i have learned so far

  1. Never ever, never ever buy anything in sale/promotion, as it would be already super expensive or poor quality.
  2. Never trust a shop keeper price, check at least few websites and decide. I have learnt that it is actually cheaper to directly buy from china than buying from local shops.
  3. Since it is a tourist country, so get ready to be treated as walking ATM.
  4. Never argue with an Indian taxi driver, ever! Chinese or malay, yes you can little bit but not with indian cabbies. And i am not being racist but it is common knowledge here. Or feel free to take risk.
  5. Never sigb up for contract Internet, they will suck you dry with their stupid and insane policies, best is to use contract free, prepaid services for mobile and Internet. Or, if it is on your landlord's name, then all good.
  6. Dont expect a public bus after 9pm.
  7. Metered taxi can only be found in Kuala Lumpur and big cities.
  8. If some website tell you that they are offering 80% off, then remember, it is with respect to product's introduction price. Like, iPhone 4 came for around 2,000rm, now it is around 5-700rm, but websites will say, 70%off for iPhone 4.
  9. Universities are good, especially of you are going for private and international campuses.
  10. You cannot find a part time job. Even if you do, outside University, they will pay around 5rm per hour, and a single basic costs that much.
  11. Within University, in campus jobs would be extremely limited and may pay around 10rm per hour.
  12. Research facilities are good
  13. People are really friendly and decent (OfCourse there will be some crazy people)
  14. Do not discuss politics or say bad about government. You can actually get arrested for insulting the elders.. Go figure.
  15. Do not ask stupid racist questions in public, or at public place. Within friends, it depends if you can ask or not.
  16. Malaysian Muslim laws are only applicable to Malaysian national Muslims only. For everyone else, its secular country.
  17. Beaches are great.
  18. Food is considered great, and they love their food. In fact, one cannot be a Malaysian if his or her profile doesn't have dozens of food pictures. I know few people who post their every meal on Facebook. :p
  19. Visa policy is okayish.
  20. Forget about chances of getting a job in Malaysia after graduation. Because, for professional visa, one must have more than 5000rm per month salary but average fresh grade salary is around 2500-3500rm. So, you can imagine how difficult it would be.
  21. Country is super hot, its sweaty, so forget about winter or warm clothing.
  22. It rains so much that, even if you're from Sahara desert, you will start hating it.
  23. People won't say anything bad on your facez typical Asian culture stuff.
  24. Always ask price of food before ordering, especially if you're ordering seafood. Even at buffet type local eateries.
  25. Cars are cheap but mechanics are stupid and expensive. They don't know how to repair but replace.
  26. DRUNK driving laws are very lenient. I never heard anyone getting caught.

Well that's all. Thanks for A2A.
